BUNAKEN OASIS DIVE RESORT & SPA
Located in the natural paradise of Bunaken Island, in the heart of Bunaken National Marine Park, Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort & Spa redefines exclusivity and diving in the region. Accommodation and diving operations meet the highest quality and service standards so that divers, snorkelers and nature lovers can fully enjoy Bunaken’s treasures.
From North Sulawesi’s mainland, the resort’s transfer boat takes guests directly to the private jetty of Bunaken Oasis. Bunaken Island is located about three kilometres from the mainland, not far from Manado, in the middle of a protected marine park. The total transfer time from Manado Airport by car and the subsequent boat trip is around 1.5 hours. The resort is built on a steep hillside overlooking the mangroves at Liang Beach, in the heart of Bunaken Island. The resort grounds can be explored comfortably by using the gently meandering paths that extend across the resort area.
Besides exclusivity and luxury, a stay at Bunaken Oasis means experiencing the “real” Indonesia. Guests can expect an authentic insight into the vibrant, colourful island life of the approximately 3,000 inhabitants, most of whom work in agriculture, fishing or tourism.
The 12 cottages of the Bunaken Oasis are built on a steep hillside above the Liang Beach of Bunaken Island. After entering the resort through the elegant Long House, which houses the reception and lounge, guests enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the lush tropical vegetation of the resort gardens and the Bunaken National Marine Park. The stunning freshwater infinity pool with sea views is located in the heart of the resort grounds and offers comfortable sunbeds and direct access to the exquisite multi-level cocktail bar. The first-class panoramic restaurant serves Indonesian specialties, local delicacies and international dishes. The first-class a-la-carte menu reflects the products of the region. Torwards the rear of the resort is the tranquil spa, where fully-trained therapists ensure regeneration and relaxation after an exciting (diving) day with an exquisite selection of massage and wellness treatments .
The respect and care for the unique flora and fauna of Bunaken is reflected in the sensitively designed infrastructure of the Bunaken Oasis. In the fruit and vegetable garden, fresh and untreated fruit is grown for the restaurant. The resort uses the first black water treatment system in the Marine Park and Bunaken Oasis was the first resort in North Sulawesi to receive the “Facilitator for Nature Tourism” award. With various initiatives and projects (including the Oasis Dive Guide Training Programme, support for the aid organisation BunakenCare, drinking water supply for the nearby village), the resort supports a large number of local community projects.
The luxurious dive resort offers its guests a 5-star experience whilst keeping the ecological footprint at a minimum. Untouched nature meets exclusive comfort – Bunaken Oasis is a true jewel for the responsible traveller.
